Antivirus The purpose of the antivirus module is to ensure detection and removal of all viruses in the wild. BitDefender Antivirus uses robust scan engines certified by ICSA Labs, Virus Bulletin, Checkmark, CheckVir and TÜV.

We found SOFTWIN's BitDefender 10 to be a feature-packed antivirus package, providing fast, efficient virus scanning, detection and removal and a quality spyware checker to boot. The virus definition files are updated hourly, which blows many other products away and the advanced heuristic engine B-HAVE gives adequate protection against as-yet unknown viruses, until a vaccine is developed and disseminated in the form of the virus definition files. These are fast to load and are downloaded and installed automatically onto your system as soon as they become available.
The program creates a small window on your desktop called a "File Zone" which indicates how many programs that BitDefender has scanned recently. We didn't really see the point of this and regarded it as a little bit of a gimmick, but it can be quite useful, as if you want to scan any particular files or folders thren you can siiomply drag them into the File Zone. Alternatively you can use the main display panel of the software to schedule scans or to opt to scan individual files and folders. Report logs are generated following each scan which are relatively (and perhaps surprisingly) informative and easy for the layman to interpret.
The virus detection afforded by BitDefender is clearly extremely powerful, as it has been awarded the VB100% award by Virus Bulletin (see above) and has also passed independent tests conducted by ICSA Labs and others.
BitDefender 10 also comes with a startup guard to warn you of any programs that are trying to load during startup - you can then choose whether to allow these programs to proceed or not.
The program is easy to install and use and so you can pretty much set-and-forget it. It uses up very few system resources and so will hardly slow down your computer at all - anyone with a reasonably fast PC (over 400MHz) probably won't notice any difference.
Friendly technical support is on-hand 24/7 via e-mail and via live online chat and an extensive database of FAQ's is also offered. We would have preferred to have seen telephone support available too - perhaps in future releases SOFTWIn might consider adding this often-overlooked feature to their product, as there is nothing more daunting than having to wait for an e-mail response when your computer is playing sill buggers with you! Still, the e-mail response was fast enough to our test query with a response the same day.
In summary, Bitdefender 10 is an extremely popular and effective, fast and robust virus checker and is also competitively priced. A worthy addition to our top 5!

Bitdefender is JUNK and GARBAGE
it absolutly NOT remuving 3 of my viruses it thinks they're backups of some thinks what a stupid software. not even gives you the corect file path so you can manualy delete the files.
and as far as Adaware or Spyware >> bitdefender the is the bigest joke I've seen >>>> after cleaning my entire computer using Bitdefender the Spyware Doctor found 47 contaminated files and 10 critical registry infections.
I only lost $60 but gain so much experience.
